Chelsie Hebert leads Bulldogs past Lady Bears

CENTERVILLE _ Chelsie Hebert belted a walk-off single, lifting the Centerville Lady Bulldogs to a 6-5 District 7-A victory over the Gueydan Lady Bears Tuesday at the Centerville Lady Bulldog Field.
Hebert, who was also the game-winning pitcher, singled home the game-winning run, breaking a 5-5 tie, propelling CHS to the important 6-5 league victory.
Marlee Darden connected on a home run while going 1 for 4 with a pair of runs-batted-in.
Centerville stormed back from a 4-1 deficit with three runs in the bottom half of the fifth frame, knotting the game at 4-4.
Gueydan broke the 4-4 tie with one run in the top half of the sixth frame for a 5-4 advantage.
CHS answered with a run of its own in the bottom half of the sixth frame, forcing the 5-5 tie.
In the bottom half of the seventh frame, Hebert ripped the walk-off single, giving Centerville the resounding comeback 6-5 victory.
Hebert was the winning pitcher, going seven innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks. On the day, Hebert tossed 62 strikes of her 84 pitches while facing 30 batters.
Lepretre took the loss for the Lady Bears after working five innings, giving up four runs on six hits.
Leading hitters for the CHS Lady Bulldogs were: Chelsie Hebert, 3 for 5, game-winning RBI; Rylie Candella, 2 for 3, 3 runs, walk; Marlee Darden, 1 for 4, homer, run, 2 RBI; Rachel LeBlanc, 2 for 4, RBI; Grace LeBlanc, run, RBI, 2 walks; Diamond Darden, 3 walks; Islee Finley, 1 for 4, run and Nevaeh McDaniel, 3 for 4, RBI.
McDaniel, Hebert, LeBlanc and Candella each had multiple hits for Centerville. Hebert and McDaniel collected three hits apiece to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
With the win, the Centerville Lady Bulldogs evened their District 7-A record at 1-1 on the season.
Centerville will travel to play Lafayette Christian Academy on Thursday at 4 p.m.
VERMILION CATHOLIC 12, CENTERVILLE 8
The Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles claimed a 12-8 win over the Centerville Lady Bulldogs in the District 7-A opener on Thursday in Abbeville.
Chelsie Hebert took the loss for the Lady Bulldogs after working six innings, surrendering 11 runs on 13 hits with three strikeouts and one free pass.
Leading hitters for Centerville were: C. Hebert, 1 for 4, run; R. Candella, 1 for 3, home run, RBI, walk; M. Darden, 2 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBI; R. LeBlanc, 2 for 4, double, run; G. LeBlanc, 2 for 3, double, 2 runs, walk; A. Lombas, run; D. Darden, 1 for 4, RBI and I. Finley, 1 for 4.
Centerville opened with a 1-0 lead while adding three runs in the fourth frame and three additional runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh inning.
VCHS tallied three runs in the first inning for a 3-1 advantage before striking for four more in the third inning, one in the fourth along with two more in each of the fifth and sixth innings.

Police Reports 3-7-18

St. Mary Parish Scott Anslum reported the following arrests:

Hector Alemendares, 35, of 809 Percy St., Amelia, was arrested Monday at 6:33 a.m. on a warrant for charges of possession of fraudulent documents and identity theft.

A deputy located Alemendares at his residence. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted Dec. 30, 2017, alleging Alemendares produced fraudulent documents and identification belonging to another person. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bail is set.

Kingsley Shearron, 32, of 468 N. Branch St., Baldwin, was arrested Monday at 1:55 p.m. on a warrant for the charge of resisting an officer.

Kingsley turned himself in to the warrants section at the Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted Oct. 24, 2017, in which a deputy initiated a traffic stop and learned that Shearron, a passenger in the vehicle, fled from the scene. Shearron was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail has been set.

Phillip Begnaud, 34, of 108 Taryn Lane, Franklin, was arrested Monday at 5:19 p.m. on a warrant for charges of domestic abuse battery in the presence of a juvenile and cruelty to juveniles.

Begnaud turned himself in to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by deputies Feb. 22, concerning domestic abuse. No bail is set.

Wanda Hilliard, 58, of 504 Sixth St., Franklin, was arrested Tuesday at 6:25 a.m. on the charge of driving under suspension.

A deputy responded to a single vehicle crash on US 90 in the Patterson area. The deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Hilliard, and learned that her driver’s license was suspended. Hilliard was arrested and later released on a summons.

Richard Ruelas, 26, of 714 La. 182, Bayou Vista was arrested Wednesday at 3:46 a.m. on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy assigned to the patrol section responded to a disturbance in Patterson. During the investigation, the deputy conducted a search and found drug paraphernalia belonging to Ruelas. Ruelas was arrested and later released on a summons.

George March, 41, of 2010 La. 319, Cypremort Point, was arrested Wednesday at 8:58 a.m. for a warrant on charges of criminal trespass and disturbing the peace, and on a warrant on the charge of failure to notify law enforcement of change of address.

March turned himself in to St. Mary Parish Warrant Section in Franklin. He was arrested and transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bail is set.

Derek Gaskins, 37, of 151 Friendship Alley, Amelia, was arrested Wednesday at 5:14 p.m. on a warrant for the charge of manufacturing Schedule II narcotic crack cocaine.

The warrant stems from a previous investigation concerning illegal narcotic activity.

Narcotics Detectives patrolling the Amelia area initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Gaskins. Gaskins was subsequently arrested for the warrant. He was transported to the jail for booking and incarceration. No bail is set.

Charlie Williams Jr., 39, 6141 79-Pines Lane Lot 8, Bayou Vista, was arrested Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. on a warrant for charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia and a warrant for the charge of possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor.

Both warrants stem from previous investigations concerning illegal drug activity.

St. Mary Parish Narcotics Detectives located Williams at his residence and arrested him. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville for booking and incarceration. No bail is set.

Franklin Third Ward Marshal Carla B. Weideboerner reported the following arrest:

Darrel Wilson, 59, of 1236 Irish Bend Road, Franklin, was arrested at his residence Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. on a Franklin Third Ward City Court warrant for failure to appear for review on charges of driving without a license and no insurance.

Wilson was arrested by deputy marshals and transported to the Franklin Police Department for booking. Wilson is being held on a $343 bond.

Arrest in 2016 Baldwin death made

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives recently found evidence connecting Russell Anthony Richard Jr. to the 2016 death of 45 year-old Reynell Lockett Richard of Baldwin
A warrant was obtained for Richard’s arrest on the charge of second degree murder.
Detectives previously sought Richard as a possible witness/person of interest in the 2016 death investigation.
He was arrested last week in Oklahoma City, Okla. on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery, in 2016.
Another arrest of Richard was affected Wednesday at 4:28 p.m. on a warrant for failing to appear to court for a revocation hearing regarding the charge of simple battery.
Richard remains incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.

GERALD GERARD BARRILLEAUX, SR.

1929-2018
Gerald Gerard Barrilleaux Sr. passed away on September 3, 2018 at the age of 88.
He was a native of South Louisiana, but has lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for over 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 17 years, Sherry Dupre Barrilleaux, and his son, James Evans Barrilleaux.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Helena Fanguy Barrilleaux. Surviving children include: Jayne Barrilleaux Verret (Mark), Jerry Barrilleaux (Delores), John Barrilleaux, Jill Barrilleaux Bridenbaker.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church, Gulfport, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Gerald Barrilleaux to either St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Catholic Charities Biloxi (Network for Good).

WALTER YELLING

Walter Yelling, 70, a native and resident of Baldwin, died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
Visitation will be held at Special Providence Baptist Church, 814 Martin Luther King Jr. St., Baldwin, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with burial rites read at the church at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharanda Trail and her husband James of Beaumont, Texas, and Antastasia Nicole Yelling of Baldwin; a sister, Louisa M. Henry of Baldwin; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sister.

JULIA MARIE BARROW PARKER

Julia Marie “G-Mother” Barrow Parker, 55, a resident Franklin, La. and native of Bayou Sale, La. passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:20 a.m. at Iberia Medical Center.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Nazarene Baptist Church Highway 182 Franklin (Verdunville), La. from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 12 noon.
She was educated in the St. Mary Parish School System and was baptized at an early age by the late Reverend Turner at the Magnolia Baptist Church in Bayou, Sale, La.
Memories of Julia or “G-Mother,” as she was known to many, will forever remain in the hearts of her companion, Craig Kristovich of Charenton, La.; two sons, Cody Barrow and Fredrick Barrow both of Franklin, La.; her mother, Lillian A. Barrow of Franklin, La.; one brother, Charles Barrow, Jr. (Linda) of Baldwin, La.; two sisters, Amanda Barrow and Denise NuHu (Wayne) all of Verdunville, La.; two uncles, one great uncle, six aunts, a devoted friend-ex-husband, Charles Parker Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Julia was preceded in death by her father, one sister, her maternal and paternal grandparents, and one aunt.

JACK ELDER INGRAM

November 10, 1933 – March 4, 2018
Jack Elder “Pawpaw Jack” Ingram, 84, a native of Milton, Texas, and a former resident of Whitehouse, TX, Duluth, GA, Pampa, TX, and Franklin, La. died Sunday, March 4, in Athens, TX at Country Place Assisted Living Center.
Jack graduated from Deport High School in Deport, TX and Paris Junior College in Paris, TX. He served in the U. S. Army as a radar operator at Fort Bliss, TX from 1953-1955.
On February 15, 1954 he married the love of his life, Dolores Joy “Nanny D” Langston of Kermit, TX. In 1961, Jack took a job with Cabot Corporation in Pampa, TX and was transferred to Cabot Canal Plant in Bayou Sale, La. in 1965. He retired from Cabot in Duluth, GA and moved to Whitehouse, TX.
Jack is survived by two sons, Monty Ingram and wife Patsy of Athens, TX, and Rance Ingram and wife Lauren of Ashton, La.; five grandchildren, Kelsey Ingram of Fort Worth, TX, and Grant Ingram of Saratoga, WY; Erin Frederick and husband Orlando of New Iberia, La., April Martinez and husband Kent of Youngsville, La., and Casey Ingram of Ashton, La.; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Evie Frederick, and Thomas and Bennet Martinez.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Langston Ingram; daughter, Keylee DeLeece Ingram; parents, Robert Wesley Ingram and Lillie Lena Albertson Ingram; brother, Mack Ingram; and sister, Mable Sugg.
Jack was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and enjoyed attending whatever the kids were into, especially sporting events, dance recitals, and speech contests. He greatly enjoyed coaching youth baseball and basketball in Franklin for many years. He coached the winning team in the first Biddy Basketball Tournament held in Franklin, and coached a Teche League All-Star baseball team that he always felt should have made it to the Little League World Series. He continued to watch the Little League World Series every year until his death.
Visitations will be held at Ibert’s Mortuary, 1007 W. Main, Franklin, La. 70538, on Thursday, March 8, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and again on Friday, March 9, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9, at 2 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary, with burial to follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

Wilfred “Tic” Richardson Sr., 60, a resident of Franklin, La. passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center.
