Sheriff: Man booked on drug charges after tip

A 32-year-old Morgan City man was booked Wednesday on multiple charges after police received a tip about someone selling drugs in the area, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

—Brian Delaune Jr., 32, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:47 p.m. Wednesday on charges of possession of alprazolam with intent to distribute, possession of Subutex with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law-drug free zone, three counts of illegal possession of stolen things and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Narcotics section detectives investigated a tip they received about a person selling illegal drugs in Morgan City. Detectives located Delaune near a business on La. 70.

Detectives were speaking with Delaune when he handed them a bag containing pills and methamphetamine. Detectives also learned that Delaune was in possession of items stolen from a store in Bayou Vista, Hebert said.

Detectives received consent to search Delaune, his belongings and his home. Detectives found three items suspected of being stolen, Hebert said. The initial investigation took place within 2,000 feet of a school. Delaune was jailed with no bail set.

Hebert reported responding to 37 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Donna Reed, 46, of Saturn Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of disturbing the peace-excessive noise.

A deputy conducted an investigation into complaints received over the last several days about a person causing a disturbance at the intersection of Teche and Saturn roads in Bayou Vista.

The deputy found that Reed was yelling and making offensive hand gestures at passing vehicles causing a disturbance in the neighborhood on several occasions, Hebert said. Reed was released on a summons to appear in court Dec. 1.

—Janice Thomas, 63, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:18 p.m. Wednesday on charges of theft of goods and disturbing the peace intoxicated.

A deputy responded to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy collected evidence from store security personnel that Thomas took the tags off items and attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise, Hebert said.

The deputy noted that Thomas also appeared to be intoxicated, the sheriff said. Because Thomas was unable to drive due to her intoxicated state or locate a ride home, the deputy transported her to her home. Thomas was released on a summons to appear in court Dec. 1.

—Dawn Pruitt, 43, of Poncio Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:17 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine, prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver failed to signal a turn onto La. 182 in Amelia. The deputy spoke with the driver, Pruitt, and located the active warrant for her arrest. Pruitt was jailed with no bail set.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported responding to 31 calls and reported the following arrests:

—Erica Boudreaux, 29, of Grizzaffi Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:03 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging her with disturbing the peace and entry or remaining on places after being forbidden.

Boudreaux was located and arrested at the police department on warrants. The warrants stem from a Sept. 7 investigation when officers responded to the area of Glenwood Street in regard to a disturbance.

Boudreaux was identified as the person causing the disturbance and had been instructed once before not to return to the premises, Blair said. Boudreaux had already left the area, therefore, warrants were prepared for her arrest. Boudreaux was jailed.

—Ryan Delahoussaye, 23, of Leona Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:56 p.m. Wednesday on charges of possession of marijuana, illegal use of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law-drug-free zone and traveling wrong way on a one-way road.

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of Florida Alley traveling the wrong way on the one way roadway. A stop was initiated, and Delahoussaye was identified as the driver.

Delahoussaye was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana, Blair said. There was also a juvenile in the vehicle. The incident took place in a drug-free zone. Delahoussaye was jailed.

—Patrick L. Augman, 43, of Spurgeon Road in Monroe, was arrested at 9:53 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with theft of goods, entry or remaining on places after being forbidden and failure to appear for arraignment.

Augman was located and arrested in the area of Orange Street on active arrest warrants held by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office and the 16th Judicial District Court. Augman was jailed.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
