The Louisiana High School Athletic Association recognizes seniors who have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout their four years of high school. Central Catholic High School senior football player Blake Byrne earned the All-Academic Composite Team Award during the state championship games at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in December. Presenting Byrne with his award are Richard Laverne, LHSAA Executive Committee member and St. Thomas More High School president, and Central Catholic High School Principal Vic Bonnaffee.

Morgan City High School's Kennedy Hebert hit for the cycle in the Lady Tigers' 18-1 run-rule victory against Ellender in Houma Tuesday. Hebert finished 4-for-4 with a single, a double, a triple, a home run and recorded six RBIs and a run. She also earned the win on the mound as she tossed a one-hitter with five strikeouts.
