Bert Miller, a freelance photographer from Thibodaux, came to Morgan City to see eagles and found the Lake End Park beach closed. The closure is likely to last at least through the end of April, although the walking trail remains open. Officials urge people to observe social distancing precautions.
Five more positive tests for COVID-19 in St. Mary were reported at noon Friday by the Louisiana Office of Public Health.
The noon Thursday report shows that St. Mary Parish's COVID-19 case count grew by 16 to 42 since noon Wednesday, according to the Louisiana Office of Public Health.
