The Morgan City Tigers held off a seventh-inning rally from Hanson Memorial for a 14-10 victory in first-day action at the Tri-City Baseball Classic in Morgan City Thursday.
Nine teams, including all four area baseball teams, will compete this weekend in the annual Tri-City Baseball Classic.

The Patterson Lumber-jacks and Berwick Panthers finished 3-0 at the Tri-City Baseball Classic last week.
Seventeen baseball teams from across south Louisiana will compete in the fifth annual Tri-City Baseball Classic, which will begin Thursday and run through Saturday.
Morgan City High School improved to 2-0 this season with an 8-3 win against Westgate High School Thursday in opening-day action at the fourth annual Tri-City Baseball Classic.
