The Southeastern Conference released LSU’s modified 2020 football schedule Monday. The slate will feature LSU opening the season at home against Mississippi State Sept. 26. LSU, the defending national champions, also opened preseason practice Monday.

Class C winners of the Sid Plott Memorial Horseshoe Tournament were Dale Pearce of Bayou Vista, first; Larry Pertuit of Marrero, second; and Mack Thibodeaux of Lake Arthur, third.
Class D winners of the Sid Plott Memorial Horseshoe Tournament were Benita Williams of Sulphur, first; Ruby Navarre of Carlyss, second; and Mike Fonseca of River Ridge, third.

The Tri-City area is mourning the loss of two coaches this week, one who was a long-time educator and another who had just received the head baseball coaching job at Berwick High School.
Dalton Hilliard Jr., son of Patterson High and National Football League running back Dalton Hilliard Sr., has died at age 29.
