Morgan City High School will open Class 4A boys basketball playoff action at home Friday when the No. 16 seed Tigers host No. 17 Warren Easton in a 7 p.m. contest. Patterson will lean on its experience as South Beauregard comes to town Friday in Class 3A Bi-District playoff action. Autin hits safely in three straight games for BRCC

The Baton Rouge Community College Lady Bears drop two games to the Pearl River Lady Wildcats Tuesday at Oak Villa Park in Baton Rouge. The Lady Bears rallied in game one but came up short 6-5. In game two, it was all Pearl River from start, with it defeating the Lady Bears 14-0 in five innings. Angeron collects hit in Dodge City loss

Dodge City Community College’s baseball team finished 1-2 last weekend in its series at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas. Dodge City fell 8-2 in game one Friday and split Saturday’s games, falling 5-4 in game one and winning game two 8-7. In Saturday’s 5-4 loss, Dodge City Community College centerfielder Drake Angeron, a Central Catholic alum, finished 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run. Maryland man accused of vehicle burglary in Morgan City

A Maryland man has been charged with a vehicle burglary at a business on Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.

—Anthony W. Kandare Jr. 20, of Edgewater, Maryland, was arrested at 11:02 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of simple burglary.

Officers responded to a business on Brashear Avenue in regard to an individual burglarizing a vehicle. Officers were able to locate the suspect, Kandare, on Willard Street, Blair said. Kandare was jailed.

Blair reported that officers responded to 45 calls and reported the following arrests:

—Darius Brown, 40, of Clements Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:28 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with failure to pay probation fees and failure to appear for trial.

Brown was located on La. 70 and arrested on city court warrants. Brown was jailed.

—Joshua W. Lewis, 33, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:58 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with probation violation and eight counts of failure to pay fines.

Lewis was transported from the Terrebonne Parish Detention Center to the Morgan City Police Department on warrants for City Court of Morgan City. Lewis was jailed.

—Chasity D. Culp, 33, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of disturbing the peace offensive language.

Culp was arrested in city court for using profanities during court proceedings, Blair said. Culp was jailed.

—Skylor A. Cole, 26, of Arnaudville, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday on charges of improper lane usage, driving under suspension, no insurance, possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Harley M. Arnaud, 22, of Arnaudville, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday on charges of possession of synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Cole was the driver of a vehicle involved in a traffic stop in the area of La. 182 near Martin Luther King Boulevard. A computer check revealed Cole’s driver’s license was suspended, Blair said.

The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Arnaud. During the traffic stop, police found suspected synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Blair said. Cole and Arnaud were jailed.

—Darell J. Gash, 38, of Willard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with possession synthetic marijuana, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance-drug-free zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, abuse of toxic vapors and disturbing the peace intoxicated.

Gash was located on Willard Street and arrested on warrants. Gash was jailed.

—Austin J. Solone Jr., 19, of East Main Street in Houma, was arrested at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in court. Solone was arrested at the police department on a city court warrant. Solone was jailed.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that deputies responded to 38 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:

—George Allen Ribardi, 28, of North Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:43 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of reckless operation of a vehicle and unlawful operation of an off-road vehicle. Ribardi turned himself in to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office on the warrant. He was jailed with bail set at $500.

—Agatha McCleary, 26, of Roderick Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:09 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for failure to appear on charges of theft and domestic abuse battery.

McCleary turned herself in to the parish jail. Bail was set at $800.

—Aaron Louis Comeaux, 33, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of possession of methamphetamine and operating a vehicle with improper taillights.

Comeaux turned himself in to parish jail on the warrant. Bail was set at $6,750.

Berwick Police Chief David Leonard Sr. reported the following arrest:

—Joseph Touchet Jr., 28, of Enterprise Boulevard in Patterson, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on charges of possession of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. Touchet posted bail.

Jones is Queen Aquarius XXV, parade is Feb. 23

Morgan City resident Shairee Jones was crowned Queen Aquarius XXV this Mardi Gras season. Her pages were her daughters Destiny and Madison Jones, and nephews Howard and Lonnie Kinchen. The krewe will parade through Houma at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23. The 680 member, all women’s krewe will present 28 floats under the theme “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”

JUDY 'MA JUDY' BAKER BREAUX

December 10, 1953 — February 14, 2019
Judy “Ma Judy” Baker Breaux, 65, a resident of Bayou L’Ourse, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Teche Regional Medical Center, with her loving husband by her side.
Judy was born December 10, 1953, the daughter of Jack Oliver Baker and Josephine Apalacio Baker.
Judy’s grandchildren were her life, she loved spending time with them as well as her dog, Betty Boop. She also enjoyed doing word search puzzles, going for a drive, and her Saturday morning swamp pop.
Judy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Edward Breaux of Bayou L’Ourse; two sons, James Breaux Sr. of Thibodaux and Edward “Eddie” Breaux and wife Margaret of Morgan City; one daughter, Donna Sherie Reed Guillory of Bayou Vista; father, Jack Baker and step mother Patricia; five brothers, John “Johnny” Baker of Pensacola, Florida, Larry Baker of Bayou L’Ourse, Timothy Allen and wife Mary of Patterson, Kenneth Allen of Bayou Vista, and Clyde Allen of Dequincy; two sisters, Melanie Davidson of Thibodaux and Angela Gilland of Dequincy; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Eleni, Kyla, James Jr., Slay, Timmy, Vincent, Kobe, Kenleigh, Trae’ and Shadow; and eight great-grandchildren. Judy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Jose-phine Apalacio Baker; two brothers, Callen Baker and Dino Baker; one sister, Sandra Baker; and her granddaughter, Brianna Richard.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, Febru-ary 22, 2019, at Twin City Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

PETER LOUIS SR.

Peter Louis Sr., 85, a native of St. Martinville and resident of Franklin, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson.
Visitation will be Fri-day from 9 a.m. until noon with a rosary at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Franklin, mass at 2 p.m. at St. Jules Catholic Church in Franklin with burial following in Perpetual Park Cemetery in Franklin.
He is survived by 10 children, Peter Louis Jr. of Verdunville, Diane Spain and Jerry Lewis, both of Centerville, Johnnie Louis of Jeanerette, Rose Garrison of Franklin, Gabriel Louis of St. Joseph, Tony Gibson and Jimmy Gibson, both of Baldwin, Warren Span of Patterson, and La Tonya Anderson of Franklin; three sisters, Lucille Thomas, Mary Ann May and Kathleen Rollins, all of New Orle-ans; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wives, parents, a son, seven brothers and two sisters.
Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrange-ments.
