Teche Theater Christmas gala held
Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts held its annual Christmas Dinner Gala on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. at the TTPA, and according to TTPA Board Member Diane Wiltz, “It was perfect.”
“There’s no place like home,” said Wiltz of the Home for the Holidays gala. “It was everything we had planned, and more. The entertainment was our (Franklin’s) very own Clay Boudreaux, and it doesn’t get any better than that. You are in your hometown theatre being performed-to by your hometown boy, who is internationally known. It was truly wonderful.”
Wiltz compared living in Franklin to Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life,” saying that she and her husband watch the film every holiday season, and that they feel as blessed in their lives as George Bailey did in his at the end of the film.
Fellow TTPA Board Member Ed “Tiger” Verdin said of the gala, “It was beautiful. Clay Boudreaux came home, and there and we were all full of Christmas spirit,” adding that it is great to see the community so energized about the revitalization of the city.
Wiltz said she would like to thank the Bayou Belles for sponsoring the meal that night. She also thanked Chuck Davis for constructing the stage set; Marnie Vaughn, owner of Bargain Barn Too; Brett Casselman; Robin Boudreaux; Perry Lowery and Tony Scelfo.

“If you want to feel that same excitement again, purchase 1 ticket.
“Our goal as a city is to totally fund each and every bicentennial event with donations, sponsors and fundraising! With that being said we would like to thank our sponsors that are helping to make the Louisiana catfish and shrimp dinner possible. We cannot thank the following people and organizations enough for making this possible:
“All seafood was acquired by a grant from the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board.
“Franklin Fire Chief Chuck Bourgeios and the Franklin Fire Department will be cooking and preparing the food along with volunteers from my administration helping to serve.
“Super 1 Foods, and Parish President David Hanagriff donated the needed items to ensure that the City of Franklin makes 100 percent profit to go towards the bicentennial celebrations.
“Tickets may be purchased from City Hall or any of the Bicentennial Committee members that have tickets. #RevitalizeFranklin #UnderTheLampposts #Bicentennial #Franklin2020”
