Patterson opens the season Friday against longtime rival Franklin with the sting of last year’s loss still fresh on their minds. The Lumberjacks lost to the Hornets, 28-20, last season.

Berwick had an historic season in 2016 as the squad qualified for the postseason a year ago for the first time in 20 years, but the Panthers have turned the page to 2017.
Central Catholic and Berwick high school have received recognition by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in their respective classes in the organization’s inaugural prep football polls.
