For the Morgan City Police Department, the honor went to Office Khairick Hartley, shown second from left, receiving his plaque from Chief Chad M. Adams. The Police Department said Hartley is known for his community policing skills and interacting with the children of the community. He has taken time to play football with the children in a quick pick-up game or helping out with the local car wash for a baseball team to attend a tournament.

The Marine Corps League's Officers of the Year for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office are Lt. Chad Wilson, left, and K9 Sgt. Ashleigh Wilson. Capt. Mike Swords, patrol commander, spoke about the Wilsons at the ceremony. They were recognized recently for, among other services, assisting " in administering vital emergency care, demonstrating dedication to preserving life in a critical moment." They helped save the life of a basketball official who collapsed on the court during a game.
