Two in custody after shots fired in Morgan City
Two people are in custody after Morgan City police answered a shots-fired call Wednesday near Fifth Street and stopped a suspect after a short vehicle chase, the Police Department said.
There was no report of any injuries.
Officers responded to the call at 3:06 p.m. in the Fifth Street-Freret area.
Officers engaged a vehicle that was believed to be involved in the investigation. The officer attempted to initiate a stop when the subject fled the area. Officers gave a short chase when the subject was stopped on Sixth Street near Clothilde Street, the Police Department said.
The sole occupant of this vehicle was taken into custody pending further investigation.
Officers and investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office located a residence on Fifth where the shooting occurred. Another subject involved was also taken into custody pending further investigation, the Police Department said.
This investigation is in its preliminary stages and as information develops it will be released at a later time, the Police Department said.
