Jamboree is Thurs-Fri at CHS, FSHS

The Centerville Bulldogs and the Franklin Hornets will host their annual High School Football Jamborees Thursday and Friday respectively at their home stadiums.
The annual Centerville Football Jamboree will be held on Thursday at Bulldog Stadium beginning at 6 p.m.
The annual Franklin High Jamboree will be held on Friday at J. C. Dry Stadium with action slated for 7 p.m.
Four teams will compete in two games in the Centerville Football Jamboree with the Hanson Memorial Tigers taking on Convenant Christian in the opener at 6 p.m. prior to the Centerville Bulldogs squaring off against the Central Catholic of Morgan City Eagles at 7 p.m.
The Franklin Hornets will host the West St. Mary Wolfpack on Friday at 7 p.m. in jamboree action.

JESSIE “MAE" MARY DANIELS

Jessie “Mae” Mary Daniels, 80, a native of St. Francisville, La. and a resident of Centerville, La., died Thursday at 6:56 a.m. at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, La.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Full Gospel Community Church, with burial rites to follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Israelite Cemetery, Elm Street, Centerville.
She is survived by two sons, Willie Daniels of Patterson and Sammy Daniels of Centerville; two daughters, Annette Marie Daniels and Rose Marie James, both of Centerville; sis sisters, Viola Williams of Baton Rouge, Idella Gray and her husband James, Janice Warren and her husband David, both of Houma, La., Augusta Richardson, Lucille Rideaux and Rose Mary Elair and her husband Paul, all of Centerville; eight grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, five brothers and three sisters

J’LA JARE’ WAGNER

J’la Jare’ Wagner, 15, a native of Lafourche Parish and a resident of Thibodaux, La., passed away peacefully at 5:33 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018.
Public viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church, with a “Celebration of Life Program” beginning at 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at 12 noon, on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 720 Talbot Avenue in Thibodaux, La. Burial will follow in Allen Chapel AME Cemetery.
She is survived by her parents, Teshawn Williams and Traig Wagner Sr. of Thibodaux; brothers, Talib Williams and Traig Wagner, Jr.; sisters, Taemar Williams and Jersey Wagner all of Thibodaux; maternal grandparents, Beverly Williams of Franklin and Craig (Shirley) Brown of Morgan City; paternal grandmother, Carolyn Wagner of Thibodaux; paternal great grandmother, Barbara Goff of Morgan City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal great grandparents, paternal grandfather, paternal great grandfather.

EARL JOSEPH WALKER

Earl Joseph Walker, Jr., 77, a native of Marrero, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., passed away peacefully at 4:55 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. A “Celebration of Life” Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Emmanuel Christian Fellowship Church, 241 Hwy 20 in Schriever, La. 70395.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Taylor Walker of Thibodaux; sons, Earl, Greg of Franklin and Keith (Stephanie) Walker of Morgan City; daughters, Lori Edukugho, Letitia Raby and Cassandra Sandifer all of Thibodaux; stepchildren, John D. Taylor, Deidre Buford and Jonae Desphy of Thibodaux; twenty grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, Alvin (Rose) and Clarence (Letha) Walker; sisters, Mrs. Keith (Orita) Jackson and Mrs. Leroy (Rita) Turner all of Thibodaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sister, son-in-law, and former wife.

DOROTHY MAE RUTLEDGE DAVIS

Dorothy Mae Rutledge Davis, 81, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, La., passed away peacefully at 4:35 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time at the church. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Plymouth Rock Baptist Church, 1000 Wallis St. in Houma. Burial will follow in Southdown Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, St. Clair D. Davis of Franklin and Ernest T. Davis of Morgan City; daughter, Mrs. Brent (Cynthia M. Davis) Daigs of Houma; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sister, Muriel R. Wallace of Houma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers and 2 sisters.

KARL WAYNE PARKER SR.

Karl Wayne Parker Sr., 60, a resident of Duson, La. and native of Franklin (St. Joseph, La.), passed away on Tuesday August 7, 2018 at 3:49 a.m. in Duson, La.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel 1101 Main Street Franklin, La. 70538.
Memories of Karl Wayne will forever remain in the hearts of his one son, Karl Wayne Parker, Jr. of New Iberia, La. and one daughter, Jocklene Parker of Franklin, La.; his mother, Willie Mae Parker of Franklin, La.; his companion, Myrtle Conner of Duson, La. and her children he helped to raise, Cloressa Druilhet, Jonathan Conner, Joshua Conner, and Deshineda Conner; five sisters, Sandra Smith of St. Joseph, La., Sharon Parker and Delisa Williams of Franklin, La., Andria Butler of Houston, TX, and Melissa Parker of New Iberia, La.; two bothers, Charles Parker and Anthony Parker of Garden City, La.; grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Karen V. Thomas Dickerson, age 56, a native and resident of Patterson, La. passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at her home in Patterson.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Good Hope Baptist Church (908 Washington Street, Patterson, La,) 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and funeral service also at Good Hope Baptist Church at 10 a.m. The Interment will take place in The Shields Cemetery, in Patterson.
Mrs. Dickerson, is survived by her husband: Douglas Paul Dickerson, of Patterson. (1) son: Rickey G. Vanderson, Jr., of Baton Rouge, La.; (2) step-sons: Rick McCurtis of Verdunville, La. and Douglas P. Jenkins of Port Arthur, TX. (1) daughter: Whitney Vanderson Breaux of Patterson; (2) step-daughters: Layoya Bennett of Patterson and Ayeshia Dickerson of Port Arthur, TX. JOSEPHINE ZACHARY

Mrs. Josephine Zachary, age 72, a native and resident of Charenton, La. passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Otis Mortuary Chapel (501 Willow St. Franklin, La.) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with funeral service also on August 25, 2018 Otis Mortuary Chapel 11 a.m. The interment will take place in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Charenton, La.
Mrs. Zachary is survived by (1) son: Kevin (Gaye) Zachary of Waldorf, MD.; (1) daughter: Tina Zachary of Charenton, La.; (2) brothers: Alton Tyler of Port Arthur, Texas and Melvin Tyler of Charenton, La.; (3) sisters: Mary Lowe of Port Arthur, Texas; Elnora Hawkins and Debra Dominick both of Charenton, La. DONALD RAY PERKINS JR.

Donald Ray Perkins Jr., aged 46, a resident of Pearland, Texas, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 3:00 pm.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Donald Ray Perkins Sr., his paternal grandparents, Earl and Ethel Perkins, and his maternal grandparents, Carroll and Audrey Lyons.
He leaves to cherish his memories; mother, Brenda Perkins Farris and stepfather, Charles Farris of Baton Rouge, LA. One sister, Chelsea Nicole Farris of Houston, TX, and one niece whom he loved dearly Gabrielle Nicole Mongo of Houston, TX along with a host of relatives and friends.
Donald developed a love for maps as a child. He graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a degree in Urban and Regional Planning. He moved to Houston and began a life long career with the City of Houston. He later received his master’s degree from Texas Southern University in Transportation Planning and Management.
Donald started his career with the City of Houston in 1995 as an Associate Planner in the Planning & Development Department. Donald had a love for trees and his communities. He loved working with neighborhoods, planning events and making sure every person he met was well taken care of.
Visitation will be Friday, August 24, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Sugar Land Mortuary located at 1818 Eldridge Rd, Sugar Land, Texas. The Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, August 25, 2018 at The Fountain of Praise Church located at 13950 Hillcroft Ave, Houston, Texas with a Viewing at 10:00 am and the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 am.

Career fair in Franklin set Oct. 9

The City of Franklin and South Louisiana Community College Franklin Campus will host a Franklin Career Fair Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City Park Recreation Center
Job seekers are asked to dress for success and to bring copies of their resume.
To make sure job seekers are ready to interact with potential employers at the Franklin Career Fair, South Louisiana Community College Franklin Campus will host a Job Readiness Workshop. The workshop will take place Tuesday, Oct. 2. Participants must call South Louisiana Community College to register for the Job Readiness Workshop, which will provide interview preparation and resume evaluation.
