EVELYN ROCKENBAUGH GUION ESTAY

Evelyn Rockenbaugh Guion Estay passed away peacefully at her home in Patterson, Louisiana, on June 27, 2025, at the age of 78. A lifelong resident of Patterson, Evelyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, educator, and community servant whose life was defined by compassion, faith, and service.
Born on July 21, 1946, in Morgan City, Evelyn was the daughter of the late George and Lorine Rockenbaugh. She graduated from Nicholls State University with a degree in education and went on to teach mathematics for 28 years, primarily at Patterson High School. She later continued her education, receiving her Master’s Degree from Nicholls, which allowed her to mentor student teachers. Her passion for teaching extended far beyond the classroom. She was a beloved educator and tutor to generations of students, many of whom returned years later seeking her guidance for their own children.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson, where she lived her faith through action. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies Altar Society, the Sisters of Catholic Charities, and she served on numerous church committees. She gave her time generously to Vacation Bible School, the bereavement committee, and countless other ministries that supported her parish family.
Even after retiring from teaching, Evelyn remained active in public service. She worked for the Sewerage District of St. Mary Parish and continued tutoring math, always eager to help others succeed. Her love for her hometown was evident in her leadership with the Patterson Garden Club, where she served as president and worked tirelessly to promote the beautification of the city she loved.
In her later years, Evelyn extended her compassion to those in their most vulnerable moments, volunteering with Heart of Hospice as a counselor to terminally ill patients and their families. Her quiet strength and comforting presence brought peace to many.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, George L. Rockenbaugh and Eve Lorine Dubois Rockenbaugh; her brother, George L. Rockenbaugh Jr.; her husband, Ronald Louis Estay, Sr.; and the father of her children, Thomas E. Guion.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Rose Gough, Ronald Rockenbaugh, and Pat (Mike) Lirette; her devoted children, Christine (Kip) Justilian, Jenny (Wes) Pitts, Yvonne (Robby) Madson, and David (Tracey) Guion; and her cherished grandchildren, Erin (Chris) Sullivan, Eimee Reese, Kristie Justilian, Cade Madson, Harlie Madson, Samantha Noriega, Max LeRay, Waide (Olivia) Noriega, Eli Justilian, and Dalton Guion. LEROY WALLACE HEAD

Leroy Wallace Head, devoted husband and father, beloved grandfather, and friend to many, was carried away to his eternal home at the age of 86 during the morning hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025, at his home surrounded in love.
Leroy was born in Rayville, Louisiana on October 8, 1938, the youngest of three sons born to the union of Wesley and Ruby Head. He graduated from Jena High School and then went on to trade school where he became certified in welding. He moved to South Louisiana to work in the Oil Industry. It was there in Morgan City where he met and married the love of his life, Sherry Topham. Leroy and Sherry were blessed with three children. Leroy enjoyed the simple things in life, God’s beauty in nature, being an avid fisherman and hunter, and growing a big vegetable garden to share with all those around him. But what was truly most important in his life is that which matters most, Faith and family. Leroy served his God and community as a Deacon and a certified Sunday School Teacher. He was gifted with a servant’s heart and made sure to know of those in need and most importantly to see that those needs were met. He was instrumental in building three local churches in the community.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his three children, Dori H. Istre and her husband John, Rev. Brian L. Head and his wife Anna, and A. Glynn Head and his wife Monica; four grandchildren, Kaci I. Brown (Chris), Kayla I. Perry (Ricky), Braxton L. Head (Torri), and Karlyn H. Guilbeau (Stephen); seven great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Justin, Allie, Bryson, Wesley, Sadie Grace, and Charlotte Rose; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 67 years, Sherry Elaine Topham Head; his parents, James Wesley Head and Ruby Chevallier Head; his two brothers, James Head and Herman Head; and his granddaughter, Brittani Nicole Head.
In keeping with his wishes, graveside services will be held with his family and church family on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Berwick Cemetery.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Heart of Hospice, Franklin, LA as well as to his caregivers, Kaye, Wanda, Geraldine, Brandy, Tysie, and Thomasina for the loving and compassionate care provided.
