The Morgan City 10-year-old All-Stars finished their season as Louisiana Dixie Youth AAA State Runners-up. Morgan City fell to Ruston this weekend in two games in the best-of-three series at the Louisiana Dixie Youth AAA State Championship Series at Johnny Downs Sports Complex in Alexandria. Morgan City fell in game 1 16-5 in five innings and 10-6 in game 2. Despite the tough ending, it's the first state runner-up for a 10-year-old Morgan City team in 17 years. The Morgan City 10-year-old All-Stars will play for a state championship and a berth in the 2018 Dixie Youth AAA World Series in Lumberton, North Carolina, this weekend when it faces Ruston in a best-of-three series in Alexandria. Game 1 is set for a 5:30 p.m. start Friday, while game 2 will be played Saturday at 10 a.m. If a third game is necessary, it will be played Saturday at 5 p.m. Morgan City team members are, kneeling from left, Bryan Cordero, Noah Guarisco, Lucas Pickens, Landyn Ramagos, Conner Daigle and Franco Saleme. The Morgan City 10-year-old All-Stars won the Louisiana Dixie Youth Minors South Regional in Vidalia Tuesday with a 12-7 victory against Ville Platte. Morgan City will advance to a best-of-three series this weekend in Alexandria where it will face the Louisiana Dixie Youth Minors North Regional winner, Ruston, Friday and Saturday. Morgan City also won the sportsmanship award at the regional tournament.
