Patterson High School's Dajon Richard runs with the football while teammates block during Friday's 28-21 victory against North Vermilion in Patterson's District 8-3A opener. Richard scored the game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter to secure the win. He rushed 17 times for 112 yards and threw for another 139 and two touchdowns. Patterson and North Vermilion went blow-for-blow until the fourth quarter when the Lumberjacks scored twice to upend the Patriots 28-21 in the District 8-3A opener for both teams.
Central Catholic High School's Taylor Blanchard drops back to throw while receiver Brooks Thomas runs a route during Friday's 50-20 District 7-1A victory against Highland Baptist in New Iberia. Central Catholic took advantage of good field position and key plays to run away with a 50-20 District 7-1A win Friday against the Highland Baptist Bears.

The Berwick High School Panthers got off to a slow start Friday but quickly regrouped en route to a 55-19 thrashing of the Erath Bobcats in both teams’ District 8-3A opener.
Morgan City High School's Ke'Sean Francois heads downfield after making a catch during the Tigers' 34-20 loss to South Terrebonne in Bourg Thursday. Francois led the Tigers' receivers with nine catches for 88 yards and a touchdown. Morgan City will return to action Oct. 13 when it hosts South Lafourche in district play.
