Scientists and public health experts have long known that certain individuals, termed “super-spreaders,” can transmit COVID-19 with incredible efficiency and devastating consequences.
Nineteen confirmed COVID-19 cases and no deaths were reported for three local parishes for the 24 hours ending at midday Tuesday, the Louisiana Office of Public Health said.
One new confirmed COVID-19 case was reported in St. Mary, and the St. Martin and Assumption case counts were adjusted downward in the 24 hours ending at midday Monday.
Pregnant women are not more likely to contract COVID-19, but the risks if they do contract the virus are higher.
