St. Mary Coroner Eric Melancon confirmed that he was notified about the death around 3:30 p.m.

Five new St. Mary cases of COVID-19 were reported at noon Wednesday, bringing the parish's total to 81 after 312 tests.
St. Martin now has 112 cases and four deaths after 137 tests.
Since food and beverage companies are considered essential, Bayou Teche Brewery in Arnaudville is allowed to stay open during the COVID-19 pandemic, although sales are down by more than 50%.
