BATON ROUGE — The LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden will welcome visitors Jan. 22 for a day of family-friendly Arbor Day festivities.
BATON ROUGE — The 11th annual Arbor Day at Burden in the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens was set Jan. 18 but has moved to Jan. 25 due to soggy conditions.
In Louisiana, we celebrate Arbor Day each year on the third Friday in January. Arbor Day is when we take time to plant trees and appreciate the benefits that trees provide for us.
Family of the late Levy “Buddy” Roy gathered Dec. 29 as a tree was planted in his memory during the Patterson Garden Club Arbor Day ceremony. The Magnolia was planted at the site of the former Roy’s Supermarket which is now part of the property where the new Patterson Junior High School is located.
