Morgan City High School qualified several competitors for the Division II State Tennis Tournament during last week's regional at the University of New Orleans. Morgan City High School's Jolee Nini and Bailee Hoggatt won the regional girls doubles title, while Niki Ring finished third in girls singles action. Above, from left, are coach Kelly Jo Aucoin, Ring, Hoggatt and Nini. In semifinal action, Nini/Hoggatt defeated a team from Ben Franklin 2-6, 6-3, 8-6, before defeating another squad from Ben Franklin in the finals, 6-2, 6-2. In semifinal action, Ring lost to Isha Mbaye of Ben Franklin, 6-2, 7-5. However, Ring defeated Camille Landry of Assumption for third place by scores of 6-2, 6-2. Berwick defeated Morgan City in boys’ and girls’ tennis action April 9 in Morgan City.
The Berwick Lady Panthers won 4-3, while the Panthers won 4-0.
