Morgan City High alum Shawn Long held his inaugural Shawn Long Bully Ball Classic Saturday at Morgan City High School. The basketball game featured alumni from Morgan City and Central Catholic squaring off. Morgan City won the contest 81-74. Long, who also starred at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, is a professional basketball player who had his most recent NBA experience in summer league action. The inaugural Shawn Long Bully Ball Classic was held Saturday at Morgan City High School.

Franklin won the State of Louisiana District 3 Dixie Youth Baseball Championship with consecutive victories over West Carroll. ALEXANDRIA _ Franklin 12-year-old All-Stars won the 2018 State of Louisiana District 3 Dixie Youth Baseball Majors Best 2 of 3 State Championship with consecutive victories over West Carroll Friday

The Morgan City 10-year-old All-Stars will play for a state championship and a berth in the 2018 Dixie Youth AAA World Series in Lumberton, North Carolina, this weekend when it faces Ruston in a best-of-three series in Alexandria. Game 1 is set for a 5:30 p.m. start Friday, while game 2 will be played Saturday at 10 a.m. If a third game is necessary, it will be played Saturday at 5 p.m. Morgan City team members are, kneeling from left, Bryan Cordero, Noah Guarisco, Lucas Pickens, Landyn Ramagos, Conner Daigle and Franco Saleme. The Morgan City 10-year-old All-Stars will be looking to make history this weekend when they compete in the Louisiana Dixie Youth AAA State Championship series at the Johnny Downs Sports Complex in

The St. Mary Central 12-year-old All-Stars won the Jim Quigley Sportsmanship Award at the Louisiana Dixie Youth Majors North Regional Tournament in Shreveport this week. St. Mary Central finished the tournament as runner-ups to West Carroll. The local squad recorded a 3-2 mark in regional play.
