Patterson 8U All-Stars split its games on 1st day of region play

The Patterson 8U All-Stars split their first day of action in Mobile, Alabama, at the Cal Ripken 8U Southwest Region Tournament Thursday, falling to Westside, Alabama and defeating Springdale, Arkansas.
Against Westside (B), Alabama, Patterson fell 8-3.
While Patterson took a 2-0 lead after an inning, Westside responded with three runs in the second and two more in the third for a 5-2 advantage.
Patterson cut its deficit to 5-3 in the top of the fourth, but Westside extended its lead to 8-3 in the bottom of the fifth.
Brilyn Johnson led Patterson with a 3-for-3, a home run, two RBIs and a run. Other top Patterson offensive contributors were: Kohen Bonin., 3-for-3; Brody Swisher, 2-for-3, a run; Tate Mouton, 1-for-2, a double; Jadyn Hillebrandt, 1-for-2, an RBI; Kane Chaisson, 1-for-2; Trey Rochel, 1-for-3, a run; and Luke Domingue and Hayden Walker, each 1-for-3.
Earlier Thursday, Patterson shut out Springdale, Arkansas, 4-0.
Patterson scored all of its runs in the fourth inning.
Traye Richardson and Rochel led Patterson’s offense. Richardson was 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs, while Rochel was 2-for-2 with a run. Other top Patterson offensive contributors were Johnson, 1-for-2 with a double and a run; Swisher, 1-for-3, a double and a run; Carlon “Duece” Butler and Hillebrandt, each 1-for-2, an RBI; Bonin, 1-for-2, a run; and Domingue, Mouton and Zack Sons, each 1-for-2.
Patterson finished pool play Friday with games against Sylvan Hills, Arkansas, and Sopher, Oklahoma. If the squad finishes in the top five of its pool, it will advance to bracket play, which will be held Saturday and Sunday.
The tournament champion advances to the Cal Ripken 8U World Series in Jensen Beach, Florida, Aug. 6.
Patterson 12s are 1-1
The Patterson 12U All-Stars split their opening-day games Thursday at the Cal Ripken 12U Southwest Region Tournament in Florence, Alabama.
Patterson defeated Levelland, Texas, 16-5 after falling earlier in the day to Mountain Home, Arkansas, 16-7.
No stats were available from either game.
Patterson will conclude pool play Friday at 12:30 p.m. when it meets Biloxi, Mississippi.
The squad then will be seeded for bracket play, which will be held Saturday and Sunday.
The tournament champion will head to the Cal Ripken 12U World Series in Branson, Missouri Aug. 2.
