Patterson 12U wins warm-up game, pool play set July 30-Aug. 1

Patterson’s 12U Babe Ruth All-Stars got off to a great start at the Babe Ruth World Series Sunday in Jensen Beach, Florida. The defending World Series champions began play July 29 with an 8-4 win in a four-inning warm-up game against North Carolina-based Dare County All-Stars, an invitational qualifier, at Pineapple Park in Jensen Beach, Florida.
In Sunday’s contest, Patterson kept Dare County scoreless in the top of the first while scoring three runs at the bottom of the inning.
Dare County managed one run in the top of the second and kept Patterson’s scorers at bay to end the inning at 1-3.
Two runs in the top of the third inning by Dare County tied the game at 3-3. Patterson answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 3-8.
Dare managed one run in the top of the fourth to make the final score 4-8.
Patterson’s Emily Lipari was 1-for-1 with a double and three runs, Kamille Lightfoot was 1-for-2 with a run, Ella Hover and Bryleigh DeHart each went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI, Amaya Williams had a run and an RBI, and Layla Richoux had a run.
Combining for the win on the mound were Laila Dugar, pitching two innings giving up one hit, one run, five walks and recording two strikeouts. Riley Chaisson pitched one inning and gave up a hit, two runs and a walk. Lipari pitched one inning allowing a run and a walk.
Monday through Wednesday, Patterson will compete in pool play in games at Pineapple Park. Patterson is facing Jeffersontown All-Stars, the Ohio Valley Regional champs, Monday. At noon on Tuesday, the girls go against host Treasure Coast Athletic Association Wildcats of Jensen Beach, Florida. Two games on Wednesday are comprised of an 8 a.m. contest against Indiana-based East Side All-Stars, an invitational qualifier, and a noon faceoff with North Carolina-based Super Optimist All-Stars, an invitational team.
The top eight seeds will play in the World Series bracket, while the remaining teams will square off in the Diamond Bracket.
Bracket play begins Thursday and concludes Saturday with champions in each bracket being crowned.
Head coach of the Patterson 12U team is Harris DeHart. He has helped lead the team to a 13-0 record this summer — including 9-0 in Babe Ruth Bracket play — en route to the Louisiana and Southwest Region titles.
Patterson hasn’t lost a Babe Ruth game since July 6, 2017, when it fell to Jefferson Parish Recreation Department East, 5-1, in the Southwest Region Tournament.
