MCHS bowling teams continue playoff action today

The Morgan City High School girls’ and boys’ bowling teams will continue postseason play today when they compete in the state’s Western Bi-Regional at Creole Lanes in Houma Monday.
The Morgan City Lady Tigers are the top seed in the west and therefore received a first-round bye. Morgan City will face the winner of No. 8 Airline and No. 9 H.L. Bourgeois in a 1:15 p.m. match. Airline and H.L. Bourgeois will play at 11 a.m.
The winner of the Morgan City-Airline/H.L. Contest will advance to face the winner of No. 5 Ellender and No. 4 Holy Savior Menard in a 3:30 p.m. contest for the right to advance to the state’s Final Four April 7 at the Raising Canes River Center in Baton Rouge.
Other teams competing on the girls’ side include No. 2 Parkway, No. 3 Lafayette, No. 6 Central Lafourche and No. 7 Breaux Bridge.
On the boys’ side, Morgan City is seeded No. 9 and will face No. 8 Holy Savior Menard in an 11 a.m. contest.
The winner will face top seeded Parkway at 1:15 p.m.
The winner of the Parkway-Morgan City/Menard contest will face the winner of the No. 4 Barbe-No. 13 Teurlings Catholic/No. 5 H.L. Bourgeois- No. 12 South Terrebonne winner at 3:30 p.m. for the right to advance to the Final Four at the Raising Canes River Center in Baton Rouge April 7.
Other teams participating include No. 2 Lafayette, No. 3 Vandebilt Catholic, No. 6 Terrebonne, No. 7 Airline, No. 10 Acadiana and No. 11 Benton.
In girls’ singles action, the area will have one representative as Berwick’s Shannon Derise will compete in 1:15 p.m. girls’ action.
