Bollinger announces leadership appointments after acquiring Miss. companies

Bollinger Shipyards LLC on Tuesday made a number of leadership announcements following the recent acquisition of Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding and Bollinger Mississippi Repair.

The announcements reflect leadership changes at BMS and BMR, as well as Bollinger Lockport New Construction and Bollinger Marine Fabricators in order to best align titles and functions across all 14 Bollinger facilities, Bollinger said in a press release.

“I’ve always said Bollinger’s greatest strength is its people and I believe that wholeheartedly,” said Ben Bordelon, president and CEO of Bollinger Shipyards. “As we grow and expand, it’s important that the leadership team grow and reflect the organization – both where it is today and where we’re heading in the future.

“Today’s announcements strengthen our team, provide opportunities for efficiency and enhance growth within organization. I’m confident that we have the people, skills, capability and dedication to meet the needs of our customers, no matter how big or complex, and provide them with the highest levels of quality, support and service in our industry.”

Chris Remont has been named executive vice president and general manager of Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding. In this role, Remont will oversee the facility’s ongoing and future programs and is responsible for execution and delivery. Remont was previously EVP for New Construction Programs at Bollinger.

Bob Merchant has been named vice president of operational strategy and integration. Merchant will be responsible for the strategic overview of companywide functional business units.
Specifically, he will review performance, synergies and operations plans to ensure support of Bollinger’s optimal strategy and best enable future growth and success. He previously served as president and CEO of VT Halter Marine. Merhcant spent most of his career at Ingalls Shipbuilding leading programs critical to both the business and the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.

While Tim Martinez will remain the executive vice president of repair for Bollinger, he will now oversee Bollinger Mississippi Repair.

Geoffrey Green has been named executive vice president of government and external affairs, where he will oversee all state and federal government relations, community relations, communications and marketing activities Green previously served as vice president for government affairs for Bollinger.

Mark Matta has been named director of program management for Bollinger Lockport New Construction and Bollinger Marine Fabricators Matta will be responsible for program execution of the U.S. Coast Guard Fast Response Cutter Program and the U.S. Navy Mine Countermeasures Unmanned Surface Vessel Program, as well as multiple projects in support of the U.S. Navy Columbia Class Submarine program.

Jeffrey Gehrmann has been named the general manager of Bollinger Mississippi Repair.

Earlier this month, Bollinger announced the acquisition of Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding and Bollinger Mississippi Repair, formerly VT Halter Marine and STEHMO. The transaction enhances Bollinger’s new construction and repair capabilities so that it can better serve its key defense and commercial customers, the company said.

All ongoing programs at VT Halter Marine and STEHMO were conveyed with the transaction, including the Polar Security Cutter Program for the U.S. Coast Guard and the Auxiliary Personnel Lighter-Small Program for the U.S. Navy. Those programs will continue to be built at Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding.

DOLORES VINNING SONS

Dolores Vinning Sons, 84, a native of Patterson and resident of Hessmer, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022.

Visitation is Wednesday, 5-9 p.m., and again Thursday, 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura. Services Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Belledeau. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Mausoleum in Hessmer.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffery Sons and Justin Sons; three daughters, Frances Rentrop, Juliana Snyder and Kim Naquin; brother, Melvin Vinning; sister, Barbara Vinning, eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters and brothers.
Escude Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Local authorities report arrests on domestic abuse, terrorizing charges

Area law enforcement agency reported four arrests on domestic abuse or battery of a dating partner charges over the long holiday period, and a Napoleonville man was accused of threatening to shoot a Pierre Part businessman and his employees.

Morgan City

Police Chief Chad M. Adams reported that over the extended holiday period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 215 calls for service and made these arrests:

--Kristie Floyd, 40, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:59 a.m. Nov. 21 on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

--Amber Fendley, 33, Crenshaw Street, Berwick, was arrested at 11:46 a.m. Nov. 21 on a charge of remaining where forbidden.

--Nolan McNabb, 19, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested on at 11:00 a.m. Nov. 21 on charges of domestic abuse battery and false imprisonment.

--Amanda T. Crouch, 42, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at noon Nov. 21 on a warrant alleging failure to appear (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--John R. Anslum, 34, Redwood Street, Labadieville, was arrested at 2:38 p.m. Nov. 21 on charges of remaining where forbidden and littering.

--Randolph A. Joseph, 30, Robert Street, Franklin, was arrested at 11:35 a.m. Nov. 22 on charges of disturbing the peace (drunkenness), possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

--Cherri Lambert, 47, Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:58 p.m. Nov. 23 on a charge of remaining where forbidden.

--Kendrick Matthews, 32, Fifth Street, Morgan City, was arrested 4:05 a.m. Nov. 23 on a warrant alleging bank fraud.

--Randy L. Hatcher, 43, Aucoin Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:50 a.m. Thursday on warrants alleging failure to appear for trial and failure to appear to pay fines (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Michelle G. Joseph, 30, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:07 p.m. Thursday on charges of aggravated battery on a dating partner and battery on a dating partner (child endangerment).

--Robert P. Stansbury Jr., 39, North Third Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:37 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Tonya J. Conner, 40, Derrick Street, Pierre Part, was arrested at 7:24 p.m. Friday on a charge of resisting an officer (false information) and on an Assumption Parish fugitive warrant.

--Tabatha B. Leblanc, 36, First Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:17 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Leonard Allen, 55, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:36 p.m. Friday on warrants alleging battery on a dating partner (strangulation), battery on a dating partner (child endangerment) and criminal neglect of family (16th Judicial District Court).

--Christina Sargee, 43, Brashear Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:14 a.m. Saturday on a charge of theft (under $1,000) and a Patterson Police Department fugitive warrant.

---Johnathon M. Priestley, 29, Fourth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:49 p.m. Saturday on a charge of obstructing public passage.

--Nathan Campbell, 18, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:55 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

--Elle-Ann E. Breaux, 20, Caffery Street, Franklin, was arrested at 10:36 p.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of marijuana (first offense).

--Aaron Lipps, 31, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested 11:44 p.m. Sunday on a charge of battery of a dating partner (strangulation).

--Derek J. Bergeron, 23, North Terrebonne Drive, Gray, was arrested at 11:57 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 96-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 133 complaints and made these arrests:

--Jameson Jamal Jontay Austin, 21, Houma, was arrested at 9:29 a.m. Nov. 23 on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon, carrying a firearm or weapon in a firearm-free zone, and resisting an officer.

Bail was set at $30,000.

--Derrick Anthony Johnson, 41, Napoleonville, was arrested at 10:34 a.m. Nov. 23 on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of simple criminal damage to property, simple assault, simple battery and disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

Bail was set at $2,500.

--Gerard Leon Harris, 42, Patterson, was arrested at 3:30 a.m. Thursday on a charge of domestic abuse child endangerment law. Bail was set at $7,500.

--Aaliya Poole, 20, Morgan City, was arrested, at 2:20 a.m. Saturday on two warrants failure to appear on charges of direct contempt, speeding, failing to honor written promised to appear, simple battery and simple criminal damage to property.

Bail has not been set.

--Jordyn Ray McCoy, 21, Franklin, was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Saturday on three warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; flight from an officer; unlawful operation of an off-road vehicle; illegal use, possession of control of weapons in a crime of violence; and window tint or obscuring

McCoy was transferred to another agency.

--Itzeel Perez-Malerva, 41, Morgan City, was 27, 2022, at 8:50 a.m. Sunday on charges of careless operation and driving while intoxicated. Perez-Malerva was released on a $1,340 bond.

--Tyler Paul Rogers, 28, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:25 p.m. Thursday by the Narcotics Section on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, three counts of threatening a public official, and resisting a police officer with force or violence. Bail was set at $100,000.

--Joseph James, 31, Franklin, was arrested at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant alleging possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine. James also held a Franklin Police Department warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and stop signs/yield signs. James was released on a $2,363 bond.

Patterson

Police Chief Garrett Grogan reported this arrest:

--Bria D. Parker, Cleco Street, Patterson, was arrested at 3:38 p.m. Friday on charges of failure to appear on a charge of roadways and rotary traffic islands, no driver’s license and no insurance. Bond was set at $1,052.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

-- Hilary J. Rivere, 58, La. 402, Napoleonville, was arrested Saturday on a charge of terrorizing.

The arrested occurred after deputies investigated a complaint in Pierre Part on Saturday.

Deputies made contact with the complainant, who advised that Rivere confronted him on Saturday morning and threatened to retrieve a gun and return to kill him. The complainant, who is a local businessman, stated that Rivere further threatened to kill his employees.

At the conclusion of the investigation, deputies located Rivere and arrested him.

Rivere was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

Franklin

Police Chief Morris Beverly responded to 17 complaints over the holiday weekend and made these arrests:

--Milton Green, 35, Willow Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:48 p.m. Friday on charges of remaining where forbidden and possession of drug paraphernalia. Green was booked, processed and held on a $2,000 bond.

--Jumicheal Smith, 43, Sixth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:05 p.m. Sunday on charges of resisting an officer and violations of protective order. Smith was booked, processed and held with no bond set.

--Nicole Bonvillain, 41, 10th Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:05 p.m. Sunday on charges of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bonvillain was booked, processed and held on a $3,000 bond.

--Rodney Bowie, 44, Seventh St., Franklin, was arrested at 8:05 p.m. Sunday on the charges of theft and violation of a protective order. Bowie was additionally arrested on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on the charges of remaining where forbidden, simple criminal damage to property and battery of a dating partner. Bowie was booked, processed, and held on a $4,350.00 bond.

CAA will distribute commodities in Berwick, Franklin

The St. Mary Community Action Agency and Food for Families Program will distribute commodities on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Food boxes are for persons ages 60 and older. Recipients will be able to drive through and food boxes are placed in their vehicles. Distribution begins at 7:30 a.m. in Berwick and 7:45 a.m. in Franklin. If you have any questions, please contact the St. Mary CAA Central Office at(337-828-5703.

Appointments for utility assistance will be taken Tuesday, Wednesday

The St. Mary/Vermilion Community Action Agency will set appointments for St. Mary and Vermilion parishes' LIHEAP Utility Assistance Program on Tuesday, Nov. 29, and Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Residents may begin calling at 8:30 a.m. on each day until 11:30 am. Please do not call before 8:30 a.m.

For St. Mary Parish, contact the St. Mary CAA central office at 337-828-5703 or -5705 No walk-ins will be accepted for appointments.

All documentation is needed for the application to be processed. A check list will be on the St. Mary CAA website, Facebook page and or can be picked up at any of the CAA locations.

The LIHEAP Utility Assistance Program helps low-come households pay their electric, gas and water bills as well as increase their energy self-sufficiency. This program targets people with the lowest incomes and the highest energy costs based on their income and family size. Additional targets are low-income household that include the elderly, persons with disabilities, and young children.

Applicants should have the following documentation available when preparing to apply:

--Driver’s license or ID for everyone 18 years of age and older

--Social Security cards for everyone in household

--Last 30 days of check stubs for employed household members

--Proof of 2022 unearned income (Social Security, SSI, SSA Disability, retirement, VA, unemployment benefits, pension funds) for all person 18 and over

--Current utility bills (gas, light, and water bills only)

--Proof of present address (cable, telephone, water, rent receipt, lease or deed, must have name and physical address)

--Disconnect notice (if you received a shut-off notice)

--Additional information may be required to determine your eligibility for energy assistance

HERMAN J. PELLERIN, JR.

Herman J. Pellerin, Jr., age 70, went home to the Lord on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He was born in San Diego, CA and a resident of Berwick, LA. Herman was a loving man who found his great-est joy in making others happy. He retired after 36 and a half years as a Digital Technician at AT&T and has spent his retirement dedicating as much time as he could with loved ones. Herman loved to fish, hunt, work out at the gym, and most importantly teach his grandchildren how to do the same. Herman was a giver. He loved to watch the joy it brought to his loved ones. He loved his wife dearly and wanted nothing more than to always make sure that she was taken care of. He absolutely adored his family and was most happy surrounded by his loved ones. Herman was truly generous, extremely kind, and an honest and loving man. He left a remarkable impact on all who knew him and will be forever missed.

Herman was preceded in death by his father, Herman J. Pellerin, Sr.; and his sister, Eve Suttoon.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Debbie D. Pellerin; daughters, Dawn Jett (Joab), Tori Chasson (Michael); son, Ryan Pellerin (Teia); six grandchildren, Jonathan Cutrone, Peyton Cutrone, Brannan Chasson, Maddie Chasson, Maddox Pellerin, and Reid Pellerin; and his fur babies that adored him, Harvey, Jack, and Kitty. He also leaves behind his mother, Ruby Joubert Pellerin; and six siblings, Ruby Lemoine (Jimmy), Keith Pellerin, Craig Pellerin (Deb), Carl Pellerin (Rosie), and Kathy DeHart (Rogers).

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Morgan City on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the church during a 12:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Following the Mass he will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Brett Lapeyrouse will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jonathan Cutrone, Brannan Chasson, and Maddox Pellerin, and his brothers, Carl Pellerin, Craig Pellerin, and Keith Pellerin. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Martin, Greg Farmer, Joab Jett, Rogers DeHart, and Michael Mire.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers, Kayla, Kacey, Katelyn, and Kim, for their exceptional care of Herman in his time of need.

UPDATED: Sheriff's Office identifies fatality, injured person found in Bayou Vista home

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office has identified the woman who died and the injured person found Sunday night in a Bayou Vista home.

Dead at the scene was Heather Dupre, 28, Bayou Vista.

The injured person is Skilan Gros, 35, also of Bayou Vista. Gros was taken by helicopter to a medical facility, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office said Monday that deputies were dispatched to a home on Southwest Road at 6:40 p.m. Sunday. They discovered Dupre and Gros at the home.
