Three people in St. Mary Parish were arrested on multiple drug charges in separate investigations after narcotics detectives conducted search warrants at three different homes and seized numerous items, Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Harold Charles Jr., 44, of Chennault Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:16 a.m. Thursday on charges of manufacturing crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Xanax, possession of promethazine without a prescription, transactions involving drug proceeds, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law-drug free zone, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor and resisting an officer by force and four warrants for failure to appear on charges of criminal neglect of family.
St. Mary Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section detectives, accompanied by the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division, conducted a search warrant at a home in the 300 block of Chennault Street.
Detectives encountered the resident, Charles, and worked to detain him pending the investigation. Charles forcefully pulled away from detectives. During the search, detectives located crack cocaine, bags of marijuana, Xanax and promethazine pills, over $650 in cash and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities also located a measuring cup and whisks that had crack cocaine residue on them. A juvenile was in the home at the time of the investigation. There is a school located within 2,000 feet of the home. Charles was jailed with no bail set.
—Fallon Cannon, 35, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Bunavail, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving drug proceeds and violation of a controlled dangerous substance law-drug free zone.
Narcotics section detectives conducted a search warrant at a home in the 400 block of Tiffany Street, Cannon’s home. During the search detectives located marijuana, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, Bunavail patches, a digital scale and over $8,500 in cash.
Detectives found evidence that Cannon was selling the drugs and that the cash was derived from those illegal sales. The home is located within 2,000 feet of a church. Cannon was jailed with no bail set.
—Alan Harding, 25, of Robicheaux Lane in Verdunville, was arrested at 12:29 a.m. Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of minors and illegal possession of stolen firearms.
Detectives began an investigation into illegal drug activity observed in a music video posted by Harding on Facebook. The video depicts Harding with marijuana and guns. Detectives conducted a search warrant at his home and located several bags of marijuana, a handgun that was reported stolen, and items of drug paraphernalia.
Three young children were at the home at the time of the investigation. Detectives also found evidence that Harding was selling marijuana from the home. Harding was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 36 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Sam Maranto, 42, of Wembley Road in Lafayette, was arrested at 11:33 a.m. Wednesday on charges of speeding in a construction zone and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
A deputy patrolling U.S. 90 in the Patterson area observed a vehicle 67 mph in a posted 55 mph construction zone. The deputy spoke with the driver, identified as Maranto, and found that he was driving with a suspended license. Maranto was released on a summons to appear in court July 10.
—Brooks Pizzolato, 31, of Martin Road in Centerville, was arrested at 3:30 a.m. Thursday on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and improper lane usage.
A deputy traveling on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area observed a vehicle swerve over the centerline and fog line several times and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, Pizzolato, and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.
The deputy performed a standardized field sobriety test. Pizzolato conducted the test poorly. He later registered 0.089 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration. Pizzolato was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Tina M. Ordoyne, 38, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, arrested at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging her with contempt of court and failure to appear to pay a fine.
Ordoyne was located and arrested at the Terrebonne Parish Detention Center on Morgan City Court warrants. Ordoyne was transported to the Morgan City jail.
—Talisha A. Smith, 37, of Jolivette Street in Franklin, arrested at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment. Smith was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on a city court warrant. Smith was jailed.
—Curtis Ray, 27, of Duke Street in Morgan City, arrested at 6:37 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment. Ray was located and arrested in the area of U.S. 90 on a city court warrant. Ray was jailed.
—Danny P. Dupuy, 37, of Russo Street in Berwick, arrested at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear to pay a probation fee. Dupuy was located and arrested in the area of Victor II Boulevard on a city court warrant. Dupuy was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
