A company that owns land on Avoca Island has concerns about the alleged potential adverse impact the Bayou Chene Flood Control and Diversion Project could have on the island as company officials prepare for restoration efforts.
Scott Nesbit, senior wetlands ecologist for Natural Resource Professionals in Baton Rouge, spoke during Thursday’s St. Mary Levee District Commission meeting in Morgan City.
Nesbit was representing Avoca LLC as an authorized agent to discuss the possible impact that the Bayou Chene project may have on nearby Avoca Island. Avoca LLC owns land on the island.
