UPDATED: Local police, deputies learn about forensic anthropology

Call it a bare-bones education. St. Mary deputies, police officers and detectives got a one-day course Tuesday in one of the most potentially baffling parts of their job: reconstructing a life and death story after long-dead human remains are discovered. They attended a workshop sponsored by Coroner Dr. Chip Metz and conducted by Ginesse Listi, Ph.D., who directs LSU’s Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services Laboratory.
