Call it a bare-bones education.
St. Mary deputies, police officers and detectives got a one-day course Tuesday in one of the most potentially baffling parts of their job: reconstructing a life and death story after long-dead human remains are discovered.
They attended a workshop sponsored by Coroner Dr. Chip Metz and conducted by Ginesse Listi, Ph.D., who directs LSU’s Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services Laboratory. The workshop was at the Berwick Civic Complex.
Fifteen law enforcement officers from the St. Mary Sheriff’s Office, the Morgan City and Berwick police departments, and the Chitimacha tribal police took part in the workshop.
