Promoting economic growth through diversification, running government more efficiently and still providing services and resources that people need are vital to help St. Mary Parish flourish, according to the three candidates who are seeking an open seat on the council.
Current District 6 Parish Councilman Gabriel Beadle, R-Berwick; Darryl Perry, R-Bayou Vista; and Reginald Weary, D-Patterson, are running in the March 25 special election for the district 10, at-large St. Mary Parish council seat to fill the vacancy left by former Councilman Steve Bierhorst, who resigned in September 2016 due to health reasons.
The term will expire at the end of 2019.
