Songwriting great lauds Morgan City festival

Songwriting festivals are skyrocketing in popularity and can do wonders for the communities that host them, legendary songwriter Dean Dillon said Saturday in Morgan City. Dillon was the Saturday night headlining singer-songwriter during the inaugural Road to 3rd Street Songwriters Festival. Over 100 songwriters participated in the five-day festival that ended Sunday and was held across multiple venues in the area. Dillon, 62, has spent the last four decades as a country music songwriter and written or co-written about 60 songs recorded by George Strait.
