Removing an 'eyesore'

After six years, the sand-filled Hesco baskets along the Justa Street levee are finally coming down. The Hesco baskets on Justa Street are the last ones remaining from the May 2011 flood fight in Morgan City. Officials placed the baskets throughout the city before the Atchafalaya River crested at 10.35 feet in May that year. City crews began Wednesday removing the Hesco baskets along Justa Street as part of an agreement with St. Mary Parish Consolidated Gravity Drainage District 2.
