Work has finished on most of the phases of the Morgan City Levee Improvements Project, and construction is getting closer to starting on one of the project’s final phases.
The entire project involves raising and improving the city’s levee system to be able to certify the levees for 100-year flood protection and avoid potentially large increases in property owners’ flood insurance premiums. St. Mary Parish Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 2 is in charge of the project.
