November 2017 marked the third consecutive month that St. Mary Parish’s unemployment rate has dropped, declining two percentage points during that time period.
The parish unemployment rate decreased to 6.3 percent in November 2017 compared to the October 2017 unemployment rate of 6.7 percent, according to statistics from the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
St. Mary’s workforce, which is the sum of residents who are employed or looking for work, decreased in November 2017 to 19,837 people from the 19,904-person workforce in October 2017.
