Over opposition, council rezones property for commercial use

Despite some opposition from residents in Wyandotte Subdivision, the Morgan City Council approved rezoning of a section of property along Patton Street and Railroad Avenue from a residential zone to a commercial zone. The rezoning request was made to allow New Industries to build a one-story building that will consist of office space and a storage warehouse in the area of Railroad Avenue and Patton Street. Council members voted 3-1 Tuesday to rezone lots 4 through 8 and lots 22 through 26, Square K in Wyandotte Subdivision from residential to commercial use.
