In the fall, construction should begin on a roughly $1.2 million project to expand the town’s sewer system to allow for business growth in the community, officials said Tuesday.
The Town Council authorized Mayor Louis Ratcliff to advertise for bids on the La. 182 sewer expansion project, pending state approval of project plans.
Berwick leaders say the purpose of the project is to provide infrastructure necessary for new business development in that area. The expansion project has been a long time in the making as officials first designed plans 13 years ago, Berwick Consulting Engineer Reid Miller said.
