New flood maps good for Amelia residents

Some residents in Amelia will see about a 3-foot decrease in the elevation they have to build to for flood insurance purposes starting Wednesday. St. Mary Parish’s revised Federal Emergency Management Agency digital flood insurance rate maps will officially go into effect Wednesday. All municipalities in St. Mary Parish have adopted the new maps.
