The Morgan City Council on Tuesday authorized Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi to sign a contract with a team of attorneys to join in pursuing litigation against opioid manufacturers and determine how much in damages the city has suffered as a result of the nation’s opioid crisis.
City Attorney Paul Landry recommended approval of the contract.
Councilman Mark Stephens was the lone vote against the contract because he said he didn’t have enough information on the matter to make an informed decision after just one presentation.
