The Morgan City Council got its first look at a proposal designed to simplify the approval process for new industrial manufacturers seeking an exemption from property taxes in St. Mary Parish.
The city council tabled action Tuesday on a resolution to authorize the city’s participation in the Industrial Tax Exemption Program.
St. Mary Parish President David Hanagriff and Economic Development Director Frank Fink brought the proposal before the city council. The St. Mary Parish and Berwick councils were the first two parish entities to approve the resolution. The sheriff is also in agreement with the proposal.
