Man gets seven years hard labor in alleged stabbing, beating

A 28-year-old Patterson man was sentenced to seven years in prison at hard labor after entering a plea agreement stemming from a case in which he allegedly stabbed and beat a woman in December 2016. Brock James Broussard pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of second-degree battery in 16th Judicial District Court. The district attorney had originally charged Broussard with aggravated second-degree battery, but he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge as part of a plea agreement, according to St. Mary Parish Clerk of Court records.
