Levee district expects progress on Bayou Chene project after ruling

A state court of appeal ruling last month in favor of the St. Mary Levee District has district officials optimistic about making progress on the Bayou Chene Flood Control and Diversion Project. On Sept. 15, a three-judge panel with Louisiana’s 1st Circuit Court affirmed a 16th Judicial District Court ruling to uphold a permit that the state Department of Natural Resources issued to the St. Mary Levee District for the Bayou Chene Flood Control and Diversion Project.
