Legislator: St. Mary must become more competitive

St. Mary Parish has to look for ways to become more competitive with surrounding parishes, especially Terrebonne, to be able to keep industry leaders in the parish, state Sen. Bret Allain, R-Franklin, said Monday. Allain was the guest speaker during the St. Mary Industrial Group at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City. He referenced PHI Inc.’s announcement that the helicopter transportation company will close its facility in Amelia. “I think that’s going to devastate this parish,” Allain said.
