Inaction of special session frustrates area lawmakers

Local legislators say they are both frustrated and concerned after the most recent special session aimed at fixing the state's projected budget shortfall ended with nothing accomplished. Gov. John Bel Edwards called the special session for the Legislature to try to solve the roughly $1 billion fiscal cliff that will occur when temporary taxes, including a 1-cent sales tax passed in 2016, expire June 30.
