Firefighter who foiled robbery honored; food drive underway

The Morgan City Council on Tuesday paid tribute to a hero. The woman who directs St. Mary senior centers is looking for more heroes. The mayor and council gave their Positive Image award to Morgan City firefighter Brandon Landry, who police said broke up an attempted purse-snatching. Council on Aging Director Beverly Domengeaux announced a donation drive to help homebound senior citizens who can’t cook for themselves. Landry was the good Samaritan credited by police with tackling a would-be purse-snatcher Thursday morning outside the Dollar Tree on Victor II Boulevard.
