East St. Mary begins picking up after ida

St. Mary residents started their Monday morning by picking up limbs and leaves, worrying about when the power would come back on and counting their blessings. Hurricane Ida, a strong contender to be remembered as the strongest storm to hit Louisiana in two centuries, made a slight eastward turn Saturday afternoon and spared St. Mary from the level of wind damage and flooding seen elsewhere.
