Council OK’s $4.5 million bid to build water plant

Construction is set to begin in a week on the city’s new drinking water treatment plant that will be more cost-effective than its current 70-year-old plant and allow the city to serve more customers in the future, Mayor Rodney Grogan said. At a special meeting Monday, the Patterson City Council approved the low bid of $4.54 million, submitted by The Lemoine Co. of Baton Rouge, to construct the city’s new water plant.
