Corps: Delay in dredge plans shouldn't slow channel opening

Despite some delays in proposal negotiations to dredge the Atchafalaya River Bar Channel, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials say the channel should still be dredged to its authorized depth by March 2019. The Morgan City Harbor and Terminal District Commission met Monday. Within the past few months, port officials have learned that the port will receive $42 million in dredging funds during the next two years through the Corps’ budget.
