City looks to sell properties with long over-due taxes

Morgan City officials took a step Tuesday in the legal process to sell private properties or recoup owed taxes and penalties that the owners haven’t paid in years. The City Council approved Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi to enter into a one-year contract with company, CivicSource, to perform services associated with the sale of adjudicated properties in Morgan City. The contract is automatically renewable but also can be canceled at any time. Approval was contingent upon City Attorney Paul Landry’s review of the contract.
