BERWICK — The Town Council is considering a May election to renew a 6-mill property tax.
At Tuesday’s council meeting, the council heard about the resolution needed to call the election to renew the tax. Residents have a chance to express their views on the issue at a 6 p.m. meeting Jan. 14 at Town Hall on Third Street.
“In the year 2002 the town had an election approving a 20-year, 6-mill property tax used for recreation, maintaining streets, fire protection, police and public safety that passed but expires in 2021,” said Allen McElroy, town attorney.
