Local legislators are bringing a variety of bills to the 2017 regular session covering topics such as providing funds for infrastructure improvements along with eliminating the state’s inventory tax and unused statutory dedications.
The session starts Monday and lasts through June 8.
State Rep. Sam Jones, D-Franklin, is working on legislation that may slightly increase a gasoline tax and sales tax to create the 21st Century Transportation and Infrastructure Fund. Jones hasn’t yet deter-mined the exact percentage the proposed tax increases would be.
