Solar's Apartments in Morgan City are now where the Newport Motel once stood. A clerk at the motel said she saw Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby there about a week before President John F. Kennedy's assassination.
Last month’s federally mandated release of more than 3,000 documents related to the assassination of John F. Kennedy has resulted in no bombshell revelations about American history’s most infamous homicide.
But a handful of the documents have turned up some names that will be familiar to St. Mary people. Those names are “Morgan City” and “Patterson.”
Those documents are accounts by FBI agents of interviews with a Morgan City woman, and a statement she gave in 1967 to the Orleans Parish district attorney. They hint at a pre-assassination connection between Lee Harvey Oswald, officially blamed for shooting President Kennedy on Nov. 22,
