CENTERVILLE — The St. Mary School Board made another attempt Tuesday to get a new half-cent sales tax on the May 9 ballot after an influential state senator expressed reservations about the original proposition. At a special meeting, the board added a five-year sunset provision to its resolution in response to concerns expressed by state Sen. Bret Allain about a tax enacted in perpetuity.
